Last weekend our St. Johns family celebrated George Tzantzos

George Tzantzos has been faithfully serving our beloved Saint John the Baptist Church for close to 30 years. During this time, George has been a member of the Parish Council and for many years served as the Secretary of the Board, only recently retiring from the Parish Council. Over the years, George has been a loyal, reliable and hardworking member of the St. John’s community, always an enthusiastic volunteer for the many luncheons, festivals and other events at the church. George has also served as a great role model for the newer generation of parish council members that have joined over recent years. George was born in Patra, Greece and graduated from high school in Athens, before coming to Boston, Massachusetts in 1965 to attend Northeastern University. After graduating with a Bachelors degree in Political Science, George decided to continue his studies at Northeastern and received a Masters in International Relations in 1972. Soon after graduating, George worked in some of the best known restaurants at the time, Pier 4 and the 57 Restaurant. George decided to open his own restaurant in 1978, Despinas Place, which was located in the Back Bay of Boston, on Mass Ave. He successfully operated Despinas for over 30 years before deciding to retire in 2009. George was married Despina who passed away in 2013. George lives in Peabody, MA with his current wife, Dora and his daughter, Antigoni.
